Wilderness opportunities' 7 day outreach
programs for troubled teens
7 Day Outreach Programs provide service
for Western Colorado’s at-risk and undeserved youth,
whom otherwise might not be offered provided this type of
learning experience. These programs are designed to intercept
negative or defeating behaviors and to provide youth with
experiences which promote self-discovery, enhance self-esteem
and improve communication skills.
During these programs participants will spend
7 days camping in the back country of Colorado’s Rocky
Mountains. These programs provide a regimented daily structure
of highly motivational activities and personal challenges
which require teamwork, decision- making, and communication.
Participants will spend 7 days camping in the back country
of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. Backpacking, mountain
peak ascents, rock climbing, high and low ropes courses and
white water rafting are to just some of the activities utilized
to help participants learn to face and overcome new challenges.
Students participating in our 7 Day Outreach
Programs7 Day Outreach Programs are referred to Wilderness
Opportunities by community youth outreach programs such as:
school counselors, foster care facilities, mentorship programs
and other social service agencies. By working with community
outreach services we are able to offer adolescents a positive
experience that they can draw on in their day to day lives,
while strengthening relationships with their long term support
systems in their home communities.
If
you have a free moment,
we would appreciate you take the time to fill out
a brief survey reflecting on your Wilderness Opportunity
experience. This feedback helps us improve our already
excellent outdoor programs for troubled youth.
